INTRODUCTION
Lavanya Siri is an artist, researcher and a storyteller.
Her current work focuses on exploring the intersection of visuals, words and sounds to tell stories of everyday mundane life in ways that evoke wonder and curiosity.
In her evolving practice, she believes the "make-feel-repeat" cycle to be an effective way to cultivate a sense of invigorating stillness—a way of life she seeks, amidst the hustle of the age of speed and distractions.
Based in India in the historical city of Mysuru, she is a Design Researcher in her day job, where she contributes at the intersection of people, businesses, and new technology.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is an exploration of self-reflection and the idea of transformation, where I seek to unravel the complexities of emotions through visual expression. I am driven by a deep curiosity about how internal and external forces shape the human experience.
My art stems from a drive to bridge the real and the imaginary, inviting viewers to see everyday life as a portal to deeper truths and transformations. Painting, for me, is a journey into spaces otherwise unreachable—a way of accessing emotions and connections often buried or elusive. Each stroke, each choice of color, mirrors an attempt to balance spontaneity with control, seeking a harmony that feels both natural and profound.
My process is shaped by contradiction: a dynamic tension between lightness and depth, clarity and mystery.
In my previous works, I’ve delved into narratives from ancient mythology, transforming them into semi-abstract compositions. These pieces are expressions of intense emotions, where complex feelings manifest as bold, chromatic spreads layered with allegorical hints.
I am particularly drawn to creating visual allegories that unfold in layers, inviting viewers to find their own stories within my work. My goal is to let the mind wander between figuration and abstraction, using high contrasts of vibrant hues to guide the eye across the canvas.
My practice deepens my intuition. It enables me to explore a multitude of stories omnisciently— through a lens zooming in and out, allowing me to process my own emotions, challenges, and moments of personal growth, both up close and from a distance.
My art now is an unfolding story where each piece speaks to a journey of rediscovery. It’s a body of work where mythical stories entwine my quest for truth, inviting viewers to find their own reflections within the colors and patterns.
My work is ever evolving with each new exploration. I see it as a mosaic of stories that unfold over time, rather than a static narrative. As I continue to reflect on my practice, I am drawn toward how art can merge the spiritual with the everyday, inviting viewers to see the sacred in the mundane.
There is much yet to be discovered in my work. I feel that the intersections of nature, daily life, and myth have limitless rich layers to be explored. The space of "what’s yet to come"
keeps me in motion, pushing me toward new techniques, themes, and textures. In this constant evolution, I find art is both discovery and rediscovery—a dynamic flow, where each finished piece only reveals another threshold.

VISUAL STYLE
Lavanya works primarily with acrylic on canvas, creating semi-abstract compositions where she attempts to transform complex emotions into abstract visual chromatic spreads layered with figurative allegorical forms.
There is an evident use of vivid and vibrant hues, with high contrast layering. The interplay between abstraction and partial details guides the viewer through a visual narrative that holds both personal resonance and a universal meaning.
By layering familiar forms, she crafts compositions that are both recognizable and open to interpretation, creating an experience that is light, ethereal and profound.
Her use of spacious strokes and repeating patterns invites a sense of movement and rhythm to unfurl an esoteric narrative of each chosen story.
One can explore her artistic process more deeply through her blog posts and social media channels where she documents them in greater detail.
